Description
The Level 7 Diploma in Construction Senior Management is a qualification for senior managers in the construction industry. It is awarded by ProQual Awarding Body and regulated by Ofqual, with endorsement from the CITB. The qualification comprises 4 mandatory units and a minimum of six optional units, covering topics like team management, ethical advice, project development, and procurement contracts.
Assessment Process – The assessment is based on four, five or potentially six assessment methods: Direct observation – an assessor will come to observe you at work. Visits are scheduled according to your availability
Evidence – attesting professional competence these include:
- Observation report by assessor: This is a report generated by the assessor observing the candidate’s performance and skills in a real work environment.
- Assignments/Projects/Reports: These are tasks or projects completed by the candidate, demonstrating their knowledge and skills.
- Professional discussion: This is a structured, planned, and in-depth discussion between the candidate and the assessor, demonstrating the candidate’s knowledge and understanding.
- Witness testimony: This is a document created by a competent witness (someone who has occupational competence in the candidate’s area of work), detailing the candidate’s performance in the workplace.
- Candidate product: This refers to any physical evidence or output that has been produced or partly produced by the candidate during their normal work activities.
- Worksheets: These are completed by the candidate to provide evidence of knowledge and understanding.
- Record of oral and written questioning: This is a record of questions posed to the candidate and their responses, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding.
- Recognition of Prior Learning: This is a method of assessment that considers whether a candidate can demonstrate competency, knowledge, or skills that they have gained through previous formal or informal learning, work, and life experiences.

- Lead and participate in meetings in construction management (Unit Ref. M/615/1333)
- Provide ethical advice, judgement and service in construction management (Unit Ref. T/615/1334)
- Develop self and others in construction management (Unit Ref. A/615/1335)
Entry Conditions:
The entry requirements for the Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Senior Construction Management are quite flexible. There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification. However, it is recommended that centers carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.
Upon completion of the Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Senior Construction Management, you will also be able to apply for a Black CSCS card which is a site manager level card demonstrating your skills and experience managing workers in a construction-related field.
The length of time that the qualification takes to complete can vary. Most people will finish within 6-12 months, but it depends on how much time you can commit to it and how quickly you are able to gather your evidence.
