The qualification covers various pathways including site carpentry, architectural joinery, structural post and beam carpentry, light structural timber framing, timber frame erection, and timber decks and cladding.
How can I get a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations?
The assessment is based on four, five or potentially six assessment methods:
Direct observation – an assessor will come to observe you at work. Visits are scheduled according to your availability.
Written questionnaire – when we come to the first visit we will print your tutorials and you will have to answer in writing about 50 theoretical questions. This is what you will do during your time, once you are done you will send the answers to us and we will attach them to the protocol. We will provide guidance, but the answers must be yours.
Professional discussion – if you do not want to cover the theoretical questions in writing, we can organize a recorded discussion between you and the assessor where they will be covered. It lasts between 1 and 2 hours and should be planned a little in advance (the assessor will make a discussion plan, send it to you and then you will set a convenient day for both). This can take place on your site or at our office
Evidence – that attests professional competence:
- 1 – 2 method statements.
- 1 – 2 daily briefings.
- Induction.
- 1 – 2 toolbox talks.
- 1 near-miss report.
- 3 – 4 installation drawings.
- 1 – 2 equipment inspections.
- 1 user manual of the tools or any similar specification.
The list is not exhaustive, in principle, any document related to your work can be attached to the portfolio.
