Description
This qualification is aimed at those who work as installers of glass supporting systems, which include window and door units.
During assessment candidates should require minimum supervision in undertaking the job. You need to be employed to undertake this qualification.
The Assessor will lead you through the process of getting a record of what your skills are as part of the NVQ Diploma in Fenestration Installation.
The assessment is based on four, five or potentially six assessment methods:
Direct observation – an advisor will come to observe you at work. Visits are scheduled according to your availability
Written questionnaire – when we come to the first visit we will print your tutorials and you will have to answer in writing about 50 theoretical questions. This is what you will do during your time, once you are done you will send the answers to us and we will attach them to the protocol. We will provide guidance, but the answers must be yours.
Professional discussion – if you do not want to cover the theoretical questions in writing, we can organize a recorded discussion between you and the advisor where they will be covered. It lasts between 1 and 2 hours and should be planned a little in advance (the advisor will make a discussion plan, send it to you and then you will set a convenient day for both). This can take place on your site or at our office
Evidence (evidence) that attests professional competence – these include 1 – 2 method statements, 1 – 2 daily briefing, induction, 1 – 2 toolbox talks, 1 near miss reports, 3 – 4 installation drawings, 1 – 2 equipment inspections , 1 user manual of the tools or any similar specification. The list is not exhaustive, in principle any document related to your work can be attached to the protocol.
If you have level 1, we can use that diploma in a process of recognition of prior learning – it would cover a unit of the level qualification.
